COURSE IMPROVEMENTS, FALL 2011
We were very busy last fall making some changes that we think will drastically improve the course conditions. We are putting in a pond in front of the first tee box which will help with water runoff from the 9th fairway and will also be a great spot for picture taking during events. The plan is to stock it with trout so that kids (and adults) can have some fun during our family oriented events. All the material taken from the pond is being used to build up the entire left side of the first fairway to alleviate any puddling. I am sure that since we are only undertaking half the fairway at this time that it may create a little puddling on the right side of the fairway but we feel that in the long run it is going to be 100% better by getting the water a little closer to the drainage ditch on the right side of the fairway making it easier to put in additional drains to get it out of the fairway and into that ditch.
We also removed the small berm on the right side of the ninth green where the old trap used to be and sloped it so that it is completely playable. We put top soil and seed on several areas around the course that were in tough condition and we added a drainage ditch on the right side of the putting green, from the parking lot all the way to the ditch on the right side of the fairway which should help direct any water coming from the parking lot to where it belongs.
Lastly, we are planning to raise the level of the fourth fairway so that it doesn't puddle (or pond in most cases) to make it completely playable as well.
We understand that by tearing up the first fairway it may cause some issues for balls hit off the tee so the hole will be played as a par 4, with the tees on the right side of the fairway, until it is ready to play.
Please stop down to see what is going on, we think you will like it!
