Click for larger view Green Mansions won the inaugural Adirondack Cup tournament over Thousand Acres on May 5, 2002.
Following a Ryder Cup format, teams from Green Mansions and Thousand Acres competed for the first Adirondack Cup this spring. Fourteen golfers from each club played in a 27 hole format that included a nine hole two man best ball, a nine hole alternate shot, and a nine hole individual match round. The first two were worth 7 points, while the last was worth 14 points. Green Mansions won the contest, 20 1/2 to 7 1/2. Members on the winning team were Al Matrose, Ron Walker, Chris Walker, Terry Whipple, Stan Ellsworth, Gary Smith, John Palermo, Justin Davidson, Bob Montgomery, Rich Greco, Bill Norman, John Bennett, Mark Davidson and Ray Bohmer. The tournament was organized by Al Matrose, Green Mansions owner Ron Walker, and Bill Lamy and Randy Galusha of Thousand Acres. Matrose plans to continue the competition next year and perhaps expand it to include other area clubs.
