Green Mansions Golf Club held its first annual Halloween Costume Party on Saturday, October 28, 2006. We had about 75 people in costume and about 35 others that came just to enjoy the music and the costumes. As you can see from the pictures, there were many well-dressed people that were serious about impressing the others and maybe even serious about winning a prize. People arrived beginning at 8:30 and continued corning until about 10:45 with the costume judging being completed at about 11:30. We gave out six cash prizes in all with the overall winner receiving $100 this year. (Click on each photo for a larger view in a new window or tab.)

We have made some plans for next year already to get everyone that is dressed up more involved and making sure that everyone that is dressed up gets a chance to be noticed and voted for. This year we did fund raisers each Saturday night in October and next year we will do the same in September and October to raise even more money for the cash prizes, which should attract even more costumers. Many people put a lot of time and money into their costumes and we hope next year that will continue. The entire clubhouse was beautifully decorated by Martha Walker and her brother Craig Maule and received many comments on the great job.

This year's band for the party was "Paradise North" and with some luck we hope to have them back again next year for the Halloween party. Paradise North is led by Chestertown native Wayne Schlaeg singing many songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's along with many new hits. Paradise North was the first band we had after we put our new addition on to the clubhouse and we have them perform every six to eight weeks as they are available. They draw a great crowd every time they play and put on one of the best shows of any band we have ever had. We even get Wayne to sing a solo for us now and then. The rest of the band - Wes Major, Chad Jones, Mark Walp, Jim Lynch and Mary Schlaeg are all local talent as well. It is amazing how much talent we have in a small area!
